It's official. Barcelona has lost Cesar Azpilicueta. Chelsea announced on Thursday afternoon the full-back's renewal for the next two seasons.
Chelsea has achieved what they have been looking for for so many weeks. The English club has already secured the renewal of one of its legends, Cesar Azpilicueta.
The Spanish player has been on Barcelona's radar for quite some time and came very close to Barcelona because the former owners promised him that they would let him leave this summer for the Catalan club.
However, the new owner of the Blues and Thomas Tuchel decided that Azpilicueta should stay to continue contributing to the team's success as one of the key players.
Until Thursday 4th August. Chelsea has already announced the full-back's renewal for the next two seasons, confirming their victory in the 'battle' with Barcelona.
"We are so happy that Cesar is staying at Chelsea for a minimum of two more years. We are thrilled with our captain showing his exemplary commitment and leadership yet again. There is still so much to do together," commented Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly.
