Napoli, latest CL team interested in Cristiano

According to information revealed this Friday by 'Corriere Dello Sport, Napoli is the latest option for Cristiano Ronaldo to play in the Champions League this season. Jorge Mendes has reportedly offered the number 7 to the Italians.

Cristiano Ronaldo is insisting on playing in the Champions League this season. And his agent, Jorge Mendes, as well. According to the information published by 'Corriere Dello Sport, the agent has reportedly offered Napoli the option to get hold of the Portuguese's services.

Man Utd is pleased with the number 7 and the Portuguese do not want to settle for Europa League. The club gave him an ultimatum because of his attitude in the last few weeks of a player who has started just one of three matches for Man Utd in the Premier League.

Therefore, CR7 is still looking for a new destination under the condition that they are playing in the Champions League. Napoli, who are in group A with Ajax, Liverpool, and Rangers, meets that requirement. Before that, he had been linked with Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich, as well as Marseille who are the latest to rule out his signing.

At 37, it seems like Ronaldo could meet the Italian club's needs. Dries Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne, and Andrea Petagna left a strike force that has been left short of goals. The Neapolitans have bolstered that area with Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone, but he might lack that bit of experience and winning mentality that the Portuguese have. In addition, these two footballers could get a lot out of working on a daily basis with a top goalscorer in Cristiano Ronaldo. He knows Serie A well after his time in Juventus.

Although Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag revealed weeks back that he counts on him, the truth is that, at the moment, he is not crucial in his plans. The striker, who is also aware that he must go into the World Cup match fit, has less than a week ahead of him to move and play in the Champions League. The other option is to stay at Old Trafford and fight to become the leader of a team looking to get back among Europe's elite.
