OFFICIAL: Werner leaves Chelsea to re-join Leipzig

Timo Werner has completed a return to RB Leipzig after two years at Chelsea. Both clubs announced the deal on Tuesday.

 Leipzig has signed Timo Werner from Chelsea on a permanent deal, the clubs announced on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old striker released a statement just after 18:00 CEST which confirmed that Werner was leaving the West Londoners. He wrote a message to thank the supporters for his two years at the club and for backing him "in good and in challenging times!"

The message received plenty of comments including one of Leipzig tweeting an eyes emoji, hinting that they might be Werner's new club. At 18:30 CEST, Chelsea and Leipzig both confirmed the transfer.
